Accessibility

During the pandemic that was officially declared in March of 2020, the availability and accessibility of Marin-based Al-Anon and Alateen meetings increased in importance. Most of us continue to gather virtually by using Zoom as our video-conferencing software; and those who have returned to in-person venues may offer a virtual component, thereby creating hybrid meetings.

Zoom account administrators and hosting teams of virtual meetings are encouraged to activate and enable Closed Captions and Live Transcription, a feature that enhances the meeting experience for those who are having audio difficulties or may be hard of hearing. Each participant controls whether the subtitles are shown or hidden; and if/when it has been activated in Zoom settings, anyone can request that this feature be enabled during the meeting.

Those returning to in-person meetings are committed to choosing venues that are accessible by wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, or canes along even surfaces and through fairly safe terrain. In response to the pandemic, ventilation and sufficient space for social distancing are also key factors.

Accessibility of information is a primary purpose of this website, which contains an abundance of navigation tools to guide each visitor through this maze and safely “Home” again.

If you have questions or concerns regarding the accessibility of services offered through Al-Anon/Alateen District 11 Marin, please contact us directly.
