Our District
All Al-Anon Family Groups (AFGs) in Marin County are part of District 11, which is one of 27 districts in the Northern California World Service Area. The NCWSA connects us directly to WSO, the World Service Office for Al-Anon Family Group Headquarters, Inc.
Each AFG elects a Group Representative (GR) who attends District 11 meetings eleven times each year. This provides an opportunity for GRs throughout Marin County to share their concerns, offer suggestions to one another, make decisions affecting all AFGs in Marin County, and vote on matters to keep things running smoothly.
In addition to relying on the officers and coordinators who manage the day-to-day operations of the District, the GRs sometimes elect to create thought forces, task forces, and/or committees to assist them in researching specific matters affecting AFGs within District 11. This research makes it easier for the GRs to apply the Knowledge-Based Decision-Making (KBDM) process to reach an informed group conscience on these matters.
